JA Resources for Students, Teachers, and Families

As Kansas City school districts continue to work out what safe learning looks like amid a pandemic, JAKC is ready to rise to the challenge and opportunity it gives our programs and volunteers to innovate. Learning may look different this academic year, but there are silver linings yet as we frame how we will strategically pivot our offerings to a remote setting.
We are grateful to our corporate partners, community foundations, and individual donors who have reinforced and even increased their financial commitment to the futures of JA kids. We appreciate the volunteers who have reached out to see how they can support students virtually. We are thankful for our educators and school administrators who are navigating uncharted waters everyday with grace and perseverance. Most of all, we are overwhelmed by the support YOU, a JA Champion, has stepped up to provide in the past months.
JAKC is proud to continue providing schools and families with resources to prepare students to enter the real world and find economic success. Below are a few ways we are able to offer support to teachers and families in the coming months:
  • JA volunteers leading curriculum virtually while a teacher facilitates an in-person or virtual classroom.
  • Career-specific events, such as career exploration fairs or a guest speaker series, to bring the community into classroom conversations
  • Pre-recorded videos from local volunteers to enhance learning opportunities with JA curriculum.
  • Self-paced programs that allow teachers to assign lessons and videos to be completed independently.
With so much changing in the lives of our young people, you know better than anyone how crucial it is they understand the possibilities for their future and feel empowered to explore their potential. Please help us spread the word of these available resources in your network and neighborhoods.
If you have other partnership ideas beyond those listed above, I encourage you to reach out to me to discuss. Your ongoing support will help bring a little certainty to a child's life. At a time when so much is uncertain, YOU will equip JA kids with the tools, skills, and inspiration they need to move towards their future with confidence.
