Graduation season is upon us. Celebrations heralding the end of the academic year still look a little different in 2021. But whether schools, teachers, and families honor students in-person or remotely, commencement ceremonies hold an important place in the lives of young people. The JA kids you have inspired this year are embarking on the next step of their journeys.
For some that means starting college or seeking additional training through a skilled trade, certificate, or apprenticeship program. Others will jump into the job market or lay the foundations for their own entrepreneurial venture. Regardless of their next steps, JA student’s paths have been shaped by you and other JA Champions who have given them the tools to come this far, and the motivation to secure choice-filled futures for themselves.
This season is a time to reflect on the potential and possibility of our children and the world around us. It feels fitting that May is symbolic of Junior Achievement’s own kind-of graduation. JAKC staff members have begun the transition back to working in-office and the new facility has been host to a bevy of guests for tours, trainings, and meetings in preparation for the grand opening in June.
It is an exciting time for JA. I am honored to witness the momentum and change YOU have empowered with your commitment to JA kids and to Kansas City. I am so proud of the way you and countless leaders in our community collaborated to invest time and resources to position JAKC to make this next step. You showed up for JA kids when they needed you the most.
In less than a month, your hard work on behalf of JA kids will be realized as we unveil JA BizTown, the facility’s signature program, presented by CommunityAmerica Credit Union and housed in the new the Junior Achievement of Greater Kansas City Youth Learning Lab presented by the Mallouk Family Foundation.
Later this summer, the first students will experience the transformational power of real-world learning made possible by your support. Over the many months of planning, fundraising, and construction, YOU believed in the vision. YOU believed in the power of partnership. YOU believed in inspiring tomorrows for JA kids. THANK YOU. Because of you, their tomorrows start TODAY.
